Steve Hoehner

Probably one reason that Steve relates so well to children and their parents is because he has vivid memories of the seemingly unending challenges they face. His background typifies so many in the gymnastics ownership industry: starting first, as a young coach; a head coach; a struggling GymClub Owner; and, finally, successful GymClub Owner.

Currently, Steve divides his professional time between his 2 facilities, the 20,000 sq. ft. Oklahoma Gold Gymnastics Recreational Center, and the 17,000 sq. ft. Oklahoma Gold Team Training Center. He and Kim, his wife, have two children, Holly and Trey. Steve's personal time is spent: spending time with family and friends; playing golf; traveling; and attending most sporting events.

Steve founded Oklahoma Gold Gymnastics in 1997 after several failed attempts to persuade his employers to let him build a preschool wonderland - something he says led to the current Tumbletown Preschool gym currently inside the Recreational Gym.  Somewhere about 2005, his focus expanded when he realized - if he chose to - he could now afford to start a girls competitive program to match his recreational program.  In fact, he did choose this path and that led to buying out a local competitor, and the Oklahoma Gold Girls Competitive program was realized.

Now that coaching gymnastics is no longer a part of his daily life, Steve satisfies his coaching urges by leading his staff (50+).  Steve stresses that leading young coaches, like coaching gymnastics, is about enjoying the small successes.  Becoming the best coach you can be is all about attitude.  If you want to be something special, then start with helping someone else.

"For me, there is no greater satisfaction than serving children. Each and every child is on a journey. I hope that by opening my doors, I am in some small way contributing to that journey in a positive way.  I tell parents and coaches all the time that this gym is my ministry.  This is what I was born to do."
